Transforming nursing education to support health workforce and nursing education development in Angola: An integrative review

The Angolan State has been looking for a way to strengthen the health sector with balanced workforce which nursing is cornerstone. This study reviews evolution of education in Angola, order better understand contribution educational development. Integrative review unpublished and published documents literature on Angola. qualitatively analyzed discussed using policy triangle framework proposed by Walt Gilson. transformation Angola gone through four phases: (i) colonial, (ii) post-independence expansion coverage basic skills, (iii) professional academic differentiation profession strategic guidance national plan 1997-2007, (iv) recent tertiary training driven private for-profit sector. challenges nurse are similar those faced other sub-Saharan African countries. These need be understood addressed within broad labor market framework, ensure cultural relevance, responsiveness cadres trained population’s users’ needs, fitness employment opportunities both public sectors distribution future graduates between urban rural different levels care.
